VNLA Godfather Fame Indoor Roller Skates

There are multiple different Godfather skates to choose from. I bought the Fame to upgrade to a better skate. I am currently skating in a Crazy Skate boot which is made well, but synthetic. I wanted a quality leather boot that wouldn't cost $500-$900. So I chose the Fame. I'll say this. With the Fame, you are paying for the boot. The bearings & wheels are not great. If you don't swap them out, you'll pretty much be skating on a beginner skate. But that's ok! The boot seems worth the price. It should wear well & last a long time. The boot has very nice cushion on the sole & along the inner sides. I bought a black size 6 (I'm a women's 8 in shoes) & it fits very well. No rubbing as far as I can tell. I really love the look of the fame pink wheels that I got on these, but for speed sake, I'm going to swap them out for a pair of Bones 101a along with Bones Reds bearings. I also wanted the Fame because I wanted to try a nylon plate instead of aluminum. My current skates are heavy. I thought these would be lighter, but they don't really seem to be. I guess the trucks along with the extra materials make them just as heavy. If you prefer a more complete skate package that's not just a base/beginner skate, you may want to get a slightly more expensive Godfather with all the bells & whistles. But these are a really good boot with lots of potential & great overall quality. Riedell is going to charge a lot more just to get a comparable quality on the boot. Happy skating, all.

These Skates are Beautiful, comfy and Quality. That said, I purchased a size 12 and they ended up being a bit big. Not an entire size up but enough for them to have too much toe space. I didn't send them back for an 11, because I knew they'd end up being too tight. Not having half sizes is an issue, as I believe that an 11.5 would have, more than likely, fit perfectly. Had to purchase some cork and gel insoles, as well as some powerfoot toe inserts. Haven't found the right combo yet but I purchased pretty much everything I could to offset the size issue. Got all of that today and am going to the rink tomorrow. Despite them being too big, they were super comfy and look amazing. Got many a compliment on them when I took them out. Purchased some Bones Elite 103As and Bones Reds. It's like skating on a cloud and on ice. Hope the additions I grabbed helped the sizing issue. Once I run these through the mill, I'll purchase another pair in an 11 and see. At least then I won't have to wait on the pair to be returned and re-delivered. This is a great replacement for the Riedell OG 712s. No need to spend $600. That ALONE makes it worth the purchase. Fingers crossed that i can get them to a snug fit.

I wear a size 7 in women's and was recommended by a Rollerskate Nation rep to order a size 5 in men's, which is the smallest size for the Godfathers. I did and they are just a hair too big in the toes. They remind me of my Dr. Marten's Jagger boots, pretty bulky and stiff but I'm confident they'll get more comfortable as I wear them. The wheels and trucks need to be loosened otherwise they ride very well and I love the ankle support. They are great skates.

My skates are perfect. Perfect size, perfect quality and perfect look. Only gripe is that it didn't come with a skate key. My friend paid a little under 200 dollars for her Impala skates and it came with a skate key.

All around this is a great affordable Amazing looking skate. The only issue was the bearings that come on them aren’t the best. As for now till I can get better ones I had my local skate shop loosen the wheels up for a smoother ride. Other than that it rivals the OG skate in many ways and I’d recommend them to anyone wondering if they want to purchase them.

These skates are great quality leather boots, that seem like they will last for years. The boots are comfortable and I expect they will become more so as the leather wears in over time. The sizing is good, I ordered my standard shoe size (12) and they fit well. The wheels, and specifically the bearings, do not seem to be of great quality. I ordered some outdoor wheels and some Bones Reds bearings for those so I don't have to swap bearings when I swap wheels from indoor to outdoor. Boy am I glad that I did. I can tell, even as a beginner skater, the quality difference between the bearings these came with, and the bones reds. The bearings on these skates don't roll as well, and I can hear noise in them where the bones reds are silent, and roll for a lot longer. I will be replacing the bearings these shipped with, with another set of bone's reds. These skates were over $350, and for that price, I'd prefer not to have to do that, but as I said, the quality difference, even for a beginner, is noticeable. As is standard, the nuts on the wheels came factory tight, and need to be loosened in order for the wheels to roll properly. Be aware that you'll need a tool or a socket to loosen them if these are your first skates. This isn't a problem, as any skater will need to learn how to properly maintain their skates, and this is the perfect introduction.

I ordered a pair of these skates (mens size 11). Rollerskate Nation has really stepped up. I am pretty much going to review them and the skates. First - Skate Nation - Fantastic company. Shipping was fast, and when I called the shop, they answered on the first ring. I think, I spoke to Julia. Super nice and friendly. Second - THE GODFATHER!!! These are the best skates I have ever owned. They are comfortable, look good and roll smoothly. The stitching is amazing. The tongue is fluffy and soft and doesn't hold sweat like you would think. They break in very nicely. The sizes do run a little big with VNLA, but overall the fit is amazing. I love these skates so much, I ordered my wife a pair yesterday. Compared to the Riedell OG 172's, these being half the price, is way worth it. You will not be disappointed in paying half, because your not getting a half price competitors skate, this thing hangs with the Riedell OG's...but half price... -Zack

If you're a skater, you need a pair of these...great fit, lightweight...it's like skating on a pair of clouds...if I didn't know any better, I'd swear they had shock absorbers in them...moves I've been doing in my 25 year old boots I mounted felt so much smoother and easier...I may never wear my old ones again...shout out to VNLA for making a comparable boot to the Reidell 172 at half the cost...definitely plan to get another pair with a different setup...these are fire!!!

These are thee absolute most lightest skates my feet has ever been in.These skates make it easy for me to do my spins, transitions, jumps etc. any jam skate movement you can think of you can do them in these skates. They are easy on my ankles and are extremely comfortable and supportive I honestly don't want to take them ( I skate around the house in them when not at the rink)it takes no time to break them in, if I could give them 10 stars I would. These are the best investment in skates I have ever made.
